HYAAAA

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has been called "The greatest Zelda game ever made" and quite frankly, I've decided that I agree.  But that's a matter for my other blog.  In any case, I wanted to do something more painterly than usual in tribute to the graphical style of the game.

Blue

I swear I made this post already and it mysteriously vanished.  Anyway, I'll try to recreate it.
So, I've been working more on 3D stuff for Black Sea Studios in the last couple weeks so I haven't been finding time to draw as much.  With that, here's some sketches:

Autobots Wage Their Battle

To destroy the evil forces of...impossible transformation schemes!

This is part of a larger project but I figured I'd put this up here.  In the last couple weeks, I've been working towards having an updated animation reel.  I'm also looking to make/dig up enough material to have specialized reel since a general isn't all that ideal.

This Guy Has the Best Theme Music Ever

Seriously, Zero's theme from MegaMan X (the original) has to be the greatest piece of video game music ever (even if it is only like 8 seconds long).  If you don't agree, you're wrong.

So, my setup is going well now.  I now own Toon Boom Studio 6 which is a help in doing my art as well as, obviously, animating.  My process now goes like this:
1. Thumbnail and sketch in GIMP
2. Clean linework in Inkscape
3. Colouring in Toon Boom

Thankfully, I'm not having any display issues anymore and I did not have to reset my Cintiq to main display.
I've been doing a lot of drawing lately, mostly sketches off the top of my head, and I definitely have some good material to use for future posts.

Quickie

Just gonna give a quick little update.  I'm currently adjusting to an altered setting, mostly with the presence of actual furniture in my new room, resulting in a new drawing setup.
I've got my workspace setup similar to what you would actually find in a studio now; the laptop on the right and the Cintiq on the left (as I'm left-handed) which I never had the table space to do before.  In addition, I no longer have the Cintiq set as my "main display", which gives me a little bit more room to draw with.
However, I have encountered an issue with this.  Some programs seem to have trouble displaying properly on the Cintiq when it's not set to the main display and this has hindered me from finishing up some of my drawings. I may just go back to having my Cintiq be my main display but I'd rather find another solution so I can keep that extra bit of space.
That said, I'm still able to use GIMP with no problem so I've done a ton of sketching lately.  So there's more art to come and very soon.

Ambiguous Spoiler Alert!

I recently acquired a pair of portable tables that have allowed me to get a much more comfortable setup for drawing with my Cintiq tablet so I drew this in partial celebration of that fact.

The Boy Wonder

Been watching Young Justice and recently ordered a Robin toy to compliment my Batman toy.  So, I felt like drawing Robin.

GAH

Dammit, I will get more than one post in here this month.  Alright, my life has settled down a little after a very busy couple of weeks and I found some free time to just sketch as I pleased.  I got a few good starts, so here they are:

I plan to do clean-up on all 3 of these so expect to see those sometime soon.

The Payoff

A bit ironic to have two posts on the day I mention that I'm too busy to be able to update but there is something I was able to put together.
Technically it's not new art but it is something I've been building to.  A groupshot for the central protagonists from my work-in-progress comic:

Slow Bloggings

The lack of updates this week is not without reason.  I'm extremely busy in my life now and almost all of the time that I spend drawing currently goes toward concept art for Black Sea Studios which I am not supposed to showcase to the public yet.
About the only thing I've drawn entirely of my own accord is yet another bit of Pony fanart.  So I present to you Aviator Dash:

I am working on something big for Black Sea Studios and once it's finished and I get the OK from my boss to show it, you can bet it'll be up here.

The Stoic Look

Going down the list, we're now at an important, secondary character from my work-in-progess comic.

Double Feature

Well, that covers doing a mid close-up of the four main heroes from my comic.  And now for another revamp of one of my older favourites:

A Revamp

You may recall this drawing from an earlier post.  I was always pretty fond of it and decided to re-clean it with my new process.  I've got some totally new drawings lined up for the next couple days.

Deliciously Evil Polygons

I asked a friend to recommend me some colourful characters to draw in order to practice my new method.  He recommended Megabyte, the villain from ReBoot:

Dragon Dragon, Rock The...ehh, you know the rest

As far as the colouring process goes, I think this is my favourite of my works yet.
Now that I'm comfortable the process, I'll try to get some original characters done in the style for future posts.

The Man of Steel

I intended on posting this a full week ago.  It would appear that due to my inconsistent internet connection, I failed to make the post...and this fact somehow eluded me until yesterday.
In the post with the Spider-Man drawing, I mentioned that I was continuing my endeavours into practicing with more thorough digital palettes.  I typed that under the impression that this was already up.  This was done earlier and was my first foray into 5-level colouring with recent drawings.

Spectacular Spectacular

Still experimenting with and improving my digital colouring approach.  Today, Spider-Man.

Sketchy Fan

Alright, it's been a very busy month for me.  I just may have landed an additional part-time job and I'm still going strong with my duties at Black Sea Studios.  That said, I had to dig through some older stuff to find material for today's post.  Here's a small selection of some fanart sketches I did over the last year.

Skull Kids Productions Comic #3

This was actually a slightly rearranged image I previously made for my review of Super Scribblenauts on my other blog.  The gag fit in well with the style of humour that Skull Kids have and it made a good lead-in to my next comic.

Skull Kids Production Comic #1

I'm now finished with the 5 mandatory comics I was to make for Skull Kids Productions as their Artist of the Month.  That said, here's the first of the five:

Putting It Together

Over the next few days, I'm going to be building up a sample episode of ReqDraw so I have a way of showing very clearly what the concept is.  I'll be putting up the video up here, on RocketHub, on Vimeo and maybe on blip.tv as well when it's done.
I have the drawing for it as well as the recorded footage for it.  At this point, it's just the editing and some audio I need to put together.
Since this, along with other priorities, will keep me occupied, I might not be able to update with new art until next week.
Ciao.

I'm Batman

With some hype over The Dark Knight Rises coming up thanks to the recent trailer, I kinda naturally decided Batman would make sense to draw today.  I recorded the process and plan to make a 'sample episode' of ReqDraw with it.  Unfortunately, CamStudio glitched out like crazy when I tried to record the clean-up process and even forced me to restart my laptop once.  This is why I desperately need better software.
