Shoryuken!

So, in continuing with what hopefully won't be too long a line of Street Fighter-themed posts, I've started work on a piece of Ken to compliment the Ryu image from before.  Here's the scan of the inked & plotted paper drawing:

Optimus Prime

Here's a straight vectorization of an inked paper drawing.  Simply put, it's Optimus Prime.  Not much else to say.

Rocky Battle - Part 1

Alright, here's a look into something I'm working on currently.

This is a straight black-and-white scan, not yet vectorized or coloured (obviously).  I'll of course be going through the process of making it a finished piece but with my Cintiq currently on the fritz, I have to decide whether to wait until I can get it fixed or go about a different process.

Hadouken! Now in Colour!

So, turns out I did still have a hi-res version of my original Ryu image.  I had initially forgotten that I used to keep my project folders in a different place than I do now.  So with that, here's a nice, hi-resolution version of the coloured Ryu image from the last post:

Hadouken!

One of my older pieces but still a good'un.
As a little experiment, I tried re-vectorizing this image since I apparently only kept the preceding low-res version.  I ended up with this and I thought it was pretty interesting:

It actually had a pretty cool effect on the linework so I may continue to experiment with this.

Pointy

Surprised I haven't put this up here since I originally completed it at the same time as the golem piece; the first thing I uploaded here.

Nelia In Action

When writing a fantasy comic, it's pretty much a law that you have to have a sexy, monster-slaying, badass heroine and here she is:

Demo Reel...Again

Another day, another post and another demo reel.  This time, I've gone through the irritating process of uploading the video to Vimeo which paid off, what with the higher framerate and quality.

More Expressions

Another rough-clean expression page this time.  And again, it's relevant to a hero from Monday's post.  Just this time, it's the other hero.

My refined demo reel is uploading to Vimeo as I type this, so expect that soon.

Quickie

Alright, no new art right now but you can expect some later tonight.  I just wanted to give a quick little update on what I'm doing with my time right now.
After deducing that it appears there really is nothing I can do to fix my Cintiq tablet myself, I'll likely be contacting Wacom's tech support line in the near future.
In the meantime, I'm currently working on updating my general demo reel with some small tweaks as per the feedback of one of my former teachers.  So you can expect that up in the near future.
I will be back later tonight with an art update and, if it uploads in a decent amount of time, my refined demo reel.

And Another Setback

Ugh, well, my previous post turned out to be a foreshadowing of the worst.  My Cintiq is currently a $1200 paperweight with a screen.  You can check Nerd Stuff for the whole story on that.  Unfortunately, this means that digitally cleaned artwork (new pieces anyway) will be rare in coming updates.

Angry Happy Pondering Sad Annoyed

Time for an early look at an expression page, relevant to one of the heroes in yesterday's post:
As you can see, it's still in the 'rough-clean' stage, ready to be digitally done over.  And you can expect a digitally cleaned and coloured version soon, so long as I can find the courage to plug in my Cintiq.  Last time I used it, the power switch suddenly ceased functioning, leaving the tablet stuck 'on', meaning the only way to turn it off was to unplug it.  So now, I'm a bit wary about using it.

Hero Final Finalization

Well, I've been working out the concept designs for my comic for ages and I've finally made one end-all be-all drawing of the main hero to base all further drawings off of.  In relevance to where it was before, the trim on the clothing has been altered slightly and his hair has been simplified.  I'm happy with how he looks now.
As for a little preview of some more art to come, here's an as-of-yet not digitally cleaned finalized design for a different hero:

Demo Reel

This is my general animation demo reel, containing work I did while attending St. Clair College.

The New Place

Alright Take Two.  Last week, Blogger had some issues resulting in this blog disappearing so I've had to recreate it.  I would have done so sooner but I just got back from a camping trip.

So with that, let's get to the intro.  This is my new blog for all my art and animation.  You'll still find my general musings and reviews on Nerd Stuff.
And once again, I'll start off with a recent favourite piece I made:

You can expect a stricter update schedule on this blog than on my other as well. For now, Ciao.
